AfriRhythms Interview with Peter Miles
Peter Miles who hails from Entebbe Uganda, has no doubt proven himself a formidable artist setting himself on the road to stardom both on a regional and international level. It is not surprising that among his contemporaries, he was selected to perform at the anti G8 summit concert which took place in Rostock Germany June 7th. 2007 and his act featured on the German ARD prime time show. Together with Menshan, their music style is so hot that it sets the dance floors on fire whenever their fans hear the music playing. The massive air play of their hits like Rukus, One Time, Muwala, Nkuloota and their most recent release “Combination”, which combines Peter Miles, Menshan and the East African Bashement Crew has no doubt added to their popularity and fans base. Exclusive Interview of Madoxx Ssematimba Ssemanda with AfriRhythms
Brief Bio: Madoxx aka David Ssemanda Ssematimba was born in 1972 in Kampala, Uganda. He attended Makonzi Boarding Primary School and Busoga College Mwiri. After secondary school he worked as a primary school teacher with “Christian Life Children’s Home”, a school funded by an NGO called “Feed the Children”. In 1991 he moved to Sweden where he lives to the present day. Madoxx has continued to breathe the hottest Reggae Riddims on the Ugandan scene. His incredibly unique vocals and strong message in his music elevates him to a stellar position when it comes to Reggae in Uganda, Africa and the entire world. His lyrics are prophetic, educative and his love ballads throw music revelers into a frenzy whenever he hits the airwaves. Before his Ugandan fans’ lips were dry of “Namagembe” which became very popular and received massive air play on Ugandan FM stations, the riddim master breathed “Nakatudde”. Although “Tukolagane album”, was released in 2000, it is still fresh and dear to all his fans. His recent album “Abato” is no doubt a “world class” production. All the songs on this album are unique, and it gets tricky to single out a favorite song since everyone we have asked seems to point at a different one. This is definitely a great contribution to the music industry. 02/19/2007

Exclusive interview with an award winning gospel duo from the Grand Bahamas
These lyrically hard-hitting Gospel dancehall reggae artists known as “Avalanchee” hail from the struggling yet culturally rich settlement of Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahamas. Avalanchee is a group comprising of two brothers: Mario and Marco Gibson, who were born in Nassau Bahamas. The untimely death of their mother marked a turning point in their lives, and it was during this period that the brothers returned to their spiritual roots and simultaneously became interested in dancehall reggae. Influenced by such lyrically impressive artists as Beanie Man and Bounty Killer, Avalanchee describes their music as “traditional dancehall in style and flow, coupled with the life-saving message of Christ as the foundation of all things”. The origins of this duo can be traced to their schooling years where Mario formed the group, which initially consisted of five members. However, when the other three group members disagreed with the duo’s vision of creating music based on God as its foundation, the brothers set forth on their own to realize their vision of praising the Lord through dancehall reggae. In an interview with Afrirhythms, the Avalanchee siblings had this to say about their music. 02/16/2007
